Koshi started nine years ago with a simple idea: bring the warmth and craftsmanship of Nepalese wool knitting to families in the United States. What began as a single style of earflap hat sold on Amazon has grown into four collections and a product line that includes handmade hats for both adults and children.
Made by hand. Every stitch.
Our hats are knit by women artisans in Nepal's Himalayan foothills. Each hat passes through multiple hands: one person spins the wool, another knits the body, another adds the fleece lining, and a final set of hands does the quality check and finishing work.
There are no machines in this process. The patterns, from our signature snowflake design to the playful fruit hats for kids, are created entirely by hand using traditional knitting techniques that have been practiced in Nepal for generations.
The materials.
Every hat starts with 100% wool yarn, sourced locally in Nepal. The wool is naturally warm, breathable, and durable. Each hat is lined with soft polar fleece for extra warmth, making them practical enough for cold Pacific Northwest mornings and harsh winter days.
The earflap styles include hand-braided tassels. The kids fruit hats include hand-stitched details like strawberry seeds, pumpkin stems, and watermelon stripes. These details are what make each hat unique.
Why it matters.
Every hat you buy supports the livelihood of the artisans who make them. These are skilled workers, mostly women, who earn a fair wage for their craft. Koshi is a small business based in Renton, Washington, and we work directly with our manufacturing partners in Nepal to maintain quality and ensure fair working conditions.
We have been a trusted seller on Amazon for over nine years, with consistent 5-star reviews from customers who come back season after season.
